Though I have been crazy busy with leaving for Europe and working on my portfolio, I would like to get another couple sketch groups together before I take off. Also, due to the fact that I'll be away for a little over three weeks, I'd love to see some of you get together while I'm gone! For that reason, feel free to post some of your personal work for critique and take advantage of the local talent that regulars this blog!
As for sketch days, I'm making my own schedule up through the 22nd, so I'm open to any date and time prior. Comment below for suggestions and lets get together soon!

Marina Sunday
Hey Crew,
This Sunday we're all going to meet at my house 11ish and after a little getting to know you conversation we can grab some coffee and/or food nearby around noon, then branch out from there. The address is 2495 Lombard Street in the Marina. Ring when you get here and be sure to bring any drawing materials you wish, while being prepared for the weather. I expect nice with a chance of wind.
Also, see post below for Saturday Gallery hopping

Gallery Hopping on Saturday
Seeing if anybody is down to do some gallery hopping on Saturday! I'd say we can meet up on Union Square around 1, and start going through the Geary Blvd. galleries. Hoping to end up at the Shooting Gallery on Larkin. I think those are the only ones I know of by Union Square. Then there are also some neighboring galleries by 111 Minna as well. Any interests?

Metamorphica Sketches
To those of you that don't know, my eye surgery went well and though I'm not yet 100%, expect another drawing day here shortly.
As for posts, here are my belated images from the Metamorphic drawings session. I'm trying to track down the artist that did the imagery in the background of the photos to credit her work here...

04.30.09 - Yerba Buena & Westfield Sketches
Here are my sketches from tonight's session. I think it was a great night altogether, despite the cold sneaking up on us in the park.
We moved over to the Westfield when it got too much outside and, after a brief run at Mai Do, an awesome stationary store that has great brushes and pens, we got down to business at the food court. There were lots of people just waiting to be drawn.
After we parted ways, I got on the train and continued sketching for a little bit before drifting off to slumberland.
Hope to see you all at the next one.

My Sketches from the GG Park Meet
I almost forgot to post these up!
This time I decided to step out of my usual comfort zone and took a stab at non-character related subject matter in various media. I'm happy with the way the watercolor turned out and anxious to discover the way to add more layers for a thicker look.
Also, I tested out toned paper for the first time as well. The charcoal gave me some trouble, but over all, it was fun.

Sketching @ Yerba Buena, Thursday, 6pm
Hey everyone,
We're going to try and get together for an evening of sketching this Thursday evening at 6pm. The place? The park between the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and The Metreon. I figure we got a couple hours in the sun before we have to move inside and I'm really getting used to the springtime sun. So bring your sketchbook, drawing pad, random pieces of paper and your drawing sticks and let's do this thing!

33 Revolutions Live Band performance
hi all,
Just wanted to post this sketch I did at 33 Revs while this jazz band was playing. I had no idea was going to take it as far as I did and as quickly as I did it. This took me two hours to do altogether. I am so proud of myself for getting something done very quickly.

Metamorphica
I went to the very first one and I have to say it was a blast. This is a monthly event that my friend hosts. It's pretty intense - you're surrounded by a whole bunch of other creative artists, drawing practically non stop. It has a pretty chill atmosphere and if you're interested to draw some costumed figures, this is the place to go!
Here's a link to some of the sketches I did that night: http://nocturnalconcept.blogspot.com/2009/03/metemorphica-workshop.html
And for more info, here's their blogspot that has a whole bunch of pictures from previous events and other people's drawings: http://busstopgallery.blogspot.com/

Sketches from GG Park
Hey everyone,
It's Vincent. Just checking in to post some sketches from Sunday's trip to the Park.
This was my view out from the De Young Cafe. It was a nice day out that day and everything was looking great. I got bored of this pretty quick though and moved on.
During the conversation one of our sketchers said that if he had a superppower, it would be to speak every single language fluently. I'm a visual person and a comic book artist so I immediately thought of this.
I had to leave a little earlieer than everyone else, but before I left I got in a few nice sketches of some things from the Japanese Tea Garden. I wish I had more time there because the flowers and plants were amazing to look at. Great for still life practice!
That's it for now. Hope you all had a great weekend and I want to see you at the next one. That means YOU!
