The Grove on Fillmore
Thank you to everyone that came out for Coffee to the People. I had so much fun with all of the random characters!
So the next meeting will be Sunday February 7th, at The Grove on 2016 Fillmore Street, off Pine. As usual, I will be there at the latest 2pm, but would like to show up around noon. For more info/map go to The Grove on Yelp.
Of course everyone is welcome, so feel free to bring friends, drawing materials, well as your appetite! This place has great coffee drinks, as well amazing food. But nothing tops the ambiance. This Grove is one of two in the city and a great place to have a latte and sketch. Of course if it gets to crowded, there is plenty of other places to sketch in the area, so we can always branch out.
Here are some of my sketch pages and picks from last Sunday:

Coffee to the People
Hello everyone, it has been too long!!! Thanks to those that have been sending me emails regarding getting the group back together. I miss sketching with all of you as well and I can't take much more of this rain!
Last night was Sketch Tuesday at 111 Minna Gallery. It was so much fun. The whole time, all I could think about was how I need to do this more often. Well, now I'm going too! The plan is twice a month, but lets see what kind of response we get from this first meeting.
In an effort to allow people time to work around their schedule, I'm setting up a Sketch Day for Sunday the 24th at Coffee to the People, not to be confused with Peoples Cafe. To those of you that have never been here before, it is on 1206 Masonic, off Haight Street. This place has always been one of my favorite coffee shops in the city. There are random seats of all kinds, not one matches the other. There are tons of random books and boardgames crowding the shelves on the walls. Of course there is coffee, pastries, and it is in Upper Haight, so there will be no shortage of people to draw.
Here is a link with all the info you will need:
Coffee to the People
I plan to get there around noon, but lets say 2pm to give everyone time to make the trip. As always, I will have my phone on me, so feel free to shoot me an email if you need my number. If anyone will be driving and is willing to pick people up from the bart, please shoot me an email and I'll organize that. The same goes for those that need a ride.
Well, I hope to see everyone there. Feel free to bring anyone else you know that is interested or simply show up yourself. I'm looking forward to seeing some progress since last time! Personally, I think I'm getting worse ;)
Also, Feb 27th is the next Sketch Crawl, so mark your calenders:

Up!
Between eye surgery, my birthday skydiving trip, leaving for Europe, and putting my 2 weeks at the 9-5, I've neglected the Sketch Crew! Well, to make amends I'm getting us all together for a night no serious artist can opt out of, Up. Yes, thats right, we're all getting together to watch the long anticipated release of Pixars Up! If you've already seen it watch it again! Time is 6:45pm, Thursday June 4th at the AMC theater for the 3D showing. Tickets should be $13.50, $12.50 with student ID's. Be there or be square.
CORRECTION: It's playing in 3D at 845 Market Street in the mall.
I'll be there at 6!

Marina Sunday
Hey Crew,
This Sunday we're all going to meet at my house 11ish and after a little getting to know you conversation we can grab some coffee and/or food nearby around noon, then branch out from there. The address is 2495 Lombard Street in the Marina. Ring when you get here and be sure to bring any drawing materials you wish, while being prepared for the weather. I expect nice with a chance of wind.
Also, see post below for Saturday Gallery hopping

Gallery Hopping on Saturday
Seeing if anybody is down to do some gallery hopping on Saturday! I'd say we can meet up on Union Square around 1, and start going through the Geary Blvd. galleries. Hoping to end up at the Shooting Gallery on Larkin. I think those are the only ones I know of by Union Square. Then there are also some neighboring galleries by 111 Minna as well. Any interests?

Metamorphica Sketches
To those of you that don't know, my eye surgery went well and though I'm not yet 100%, expect another drawing day here shortly.
As for posts, here are my belated images from the Metamorphic drawings session. I'm trying to track down the artist that did the imagery in the background of the photos to credit her work here...

04.30.09 - Yerba Buena & Westfield Sketches
Here are my sketches from tonight's session. I think it was a great night altogether, despite the cold sneaking up on us in the park.
We moved over to the Westfield when it got too much outside and, after a brief run at Mai Do, an awesome stationary store that has great brushes and pens, we got down to business at the food court. There were lots of people just waiting to be drawn.
After we parted ways, I got on the train and continued sketching for a little bit before drifting off to slumberland.
Hope to see you all at the next one.
